eharmon has been an interesting experiment. to get naggers off my back, and to offer moral support to my friend who was going through the insanely long questionnaire, i decided to give it a go.
(no, i haven't met anyone.)
but it's been surprisingly educational. there are some things you don't realize are that important to you until you have some sort of decision to make. a picture and a profile in front of your face, and an immediate "feeling". it's not to say that you can't get over it...but it's interesting to take note of.
-i always thought i could be a samo if i had to. i love people. i love shepherding. i just want to be a soccer mom. why not for a congregation? but as i get matched up with pastors or seminarians...there's a tiny gut reaction. i can't pin what it is, exactly - but it's there.
-the overweight issue. i'm no twig, myself - by any means. but (surprise, surprise), i like to be around other people who are physically fit. i'm not sure if this is terribly accurate or fair, but i tend to automatically judge character (ie. discipline vs. laziness) by physical fitness.
-long distance. i think it's one thing if you were dating and moved away...or if you actually know someone who happens to live far away...or maybe even if you met someone (at a wedding or party or what-have-you) and they happen to live far away. but the distance factor when prospectively meeting someone for the first time...is daunting.
and then there are the questions in the "about me". i realize that i could be honest - but that honesty will usually scare people off at first impression, so i have to filter. for example: "what is the first thing people notice about you besides your appearance?" fine, that one's easy - that i'm a goal-oriented person. actually, no...that wouldn't be the first thing that popped into my mind. so i've already filtered. i probably would have said that i'm athletic. as evidenced by the multiple times i've been stopped by strangers on the street that i "look athletic" or "walk like an athlete" - what, do i swagger or something??
the next question: "what is one thing you wish people would notice about you that they don't?" or essentially the same as "what is something that only your best friends know?" (what an awkward question on a profile). i couldn't even come up with a neutral answer so i left those blank. the real answer would be something along the lines of - i'm a closet girl underneath the assumptions everyone makes of a tough and boyish personality. but again - not something you tell to a total stranger.
anyways.
i'm already in withdrawal of "꽃보다 남자" ... best soundtrack ever.
me: it never made sense to me why he liked her in the first place
jda: 'cause she punched him
me: i've punched a lot of guys. as far as i can tell none of them fell in love with me.
