I'm realizing more and more that there are very few people who will really stand by you when it involves personal investment or a risk. I think these days I'm very puzzled and somewhat annoyed by the fact that I have a great many people who will claim to stand in my camp, but when the bullets start firing, they're nowhere to be seen. Someone who claims to be advocating for you who then turns around and gets blown by the wind and can't stand up for themselves - now that's disappointing.
On the flip side of that, it's rather comforting to see who DOES stay in your camp, who defends you, and is willing to fight for your cause. I guess I didn't really need proof of that, but it's nice to be reminded sometimes.
