gratification

We sang this song in church a few weeks ago and it was driving me crazy trying to find it. Well, good thing the worship team recycles, because I finally figured it out. How satisfying.

Our King - Tree63

We have heard the thunder
We have seen the storm
Echoes of your kingdom coming
Rumors of our home
Where one day we will stand before you Lord
Our altogether beautiful reward

And we will give you glory, bring you honor
King above all kings
You deserve our everything
We will lift our voices with your praises
Jesus, you are our King

It's pretty crazy if you think about God deserving everything. It's interesting when you look at the things you hold onto, which are sometimes strange in light of the things you CAN give up to Him. Gosh..."everything"...it's so...absolute.

But as I was reminded this weekend...every good and perfect thing does indeed come from above...so in light of that, why should it be so hard to give God what originally came from Him? It's like how my dad used to always laugh at me when I'd buy him nice presents...because he used to pay my credit card bills. It's kind of like, well that was really nice of you, but how hard is it to give when you're not the one sacrificing in the end? When in fact, the person who's getting your gift is the one who paid for it?

Everything.
